Sewing 001 Intro to the Sewing Machine 1 session, 1 hour $20.00
Do you have a sewing machine and have no idea how to use it? Thinking about learning to sew?
This class will cover so much in one hour or so about the sewing machine. (We can even teach you some history also!) We’ll wind the bobbin and install it, thread the machine, adjust stitch length and width, backstitch, use some of the different stitches on the machine, review the feet and other items that come with the machine, and review tension.
Supplies required: your machine and treadle and a spool of thread.

Open Sewing Lab $ 10.00 hourly
Once you have completed the first class, come in to practice, use the overlock or our industrial overlock or coverstitch machines, dressforms, cutting tables, and other professional equipment and get help on your projects. This lab times is set up to work more independently. Prerequisite – 1 TLSR sewing class or current enrollment.
Creative Sewing Lab $ 12.00 hourly
Choose this lab if you need a more class-like experience while choosing your own projects. Prerequisite – 1 TLSR sewing class or current enrollment.
4 sessions, 3 hours each + 2 lab hours, 14 hours total $ 160.00
This class is designed for the beginning stitcher and will get you started sewing your own garments and accessories. You will also discover the joy of the creative journey. Cutting on grain, importance of pressing, and following a sewing sequence are covered in depth. Each session is project oriented and each student will leave class with finished wearable projects. 2 open lab hours are included in the class. Once enrolled, we will provide you with the supply list for each session.
Sewing 102 Jumpstart Sewing
1 session, 3 hours, supplies included $ 50.00
This is a single session class that will introduce you to the concepts of sewing. You will learn about the importance of grainline, cutting correctly, sewing a straight seam, the importance of finishing seams and pressing, a few seam finishes, interfacing and fusing, and a discussion of closures. You will complete a project - a bag that will fit in your purse or backpack! Supplies are included in the class.
4 sessions, 3 hours each + 4 lab hours, 16 hours total $ 185.00
This class will build on the skills learned in Sewing 101 and is designed for stitchers with some sewing experience. Cutting, accurate sewing, and reading pattern sewing instructions, interfacings, darts, blind hem, zipper are covered. Each session is project oriented and each student will leave class with finished wearable projects. 4 open lab hours are included in the class. Once enrolled, we will provide you with the supply list for the class.
Sewing Knits 101
4 sessions, 3 hours each + 4 lab hours 16 hours total $ 190.00
This class is all about sewing knits. You will learn to identify knit types and stretch ratios and cutting knits for optimal stretch benefits. Cutting and attaching rib to necklines in a variety of ways, t-shirt construction, attaching elastic for leggings, alternates to coverstitching hems, will be covered. Use of the overlock (serger) will be covered. Sessions are project oriented with finished wearable garments in the end. 4 open lab hours are included in the class. Once enrolled, we will provide you with the supply list for the class.
Sewing 170 Basic Sewing Techniques
2 hours per session $ 32.00
Learn a variety of sewing techniques that will transfer to your projects. You will create a reference file with notes of how and when to apply them. This class is not project based; it is techniques oriented. You will create a notebook of techniques to use for future reference. This is a great way to learn a plethora of information quickly and easily and will serve you well in the future. We suggest you take this in conjunction with Sewing 101 and 201. You may never need another sewing class again until you want to sew knits. Supplies: binder for samples, basic sewing kit. (Fabric samples supplied by TLSR). No prerequisite.

Sewing 180 Preparing for Fashion School

Dresses and an accessory are the focus in this class, which is designed to follow Sewing 201 or the sewing with some experience. Make it a LBD (Little Black Dress, every woman needs one!) Cutting, accurate sewing and reading sewing instructions, interfacings, fitting and closures are covered and if time permits, we will cover some couture finishing techniques. Each session is project oriented with a finished wearable garment at the end. 4 open lab hours are included in the class. Once enrolled, we will provide you with the supply list for the class.

Classic blouses are the focus of this class, which is designed for sewers with some sewing experience. Cutting, accurate sewing, fitting, pressing, reading a pattern sewing instructions sheet, collars and sleeve plackets with cuffs, buttons and buttonholes will be covered. Class is project oriented with a finished wearable garment at the conclusion. 4 open lab hours are included in the class. Once enrolled, we will provide you with the supply list for the class.
Sewing 320 Swimwear
4 sessions, 2 hours each + 4 lab hours, 12 hours total $ 150.00
Do you have an extra long torso or are large on top? Maybe you have had a mastectomy. Do you just have trouble finding a cute and sexy swimsuit that fits you? Learn how to fit your suit, handle elastics for the openings and create straps for tying and wrapping. We can even create a cover-up for lounging in. Most sessions are project oriented with finished wearable garments in the end. 4 open lab hours are included in this class. Once enrolled, we will provide you with the supply list for the class.
Sewing 325 Lingerie
4 sessions, 2 hours each + 4 lab hours, 12 hours total $ 150.00
Cami’s, panties, and nighties oh my! Learn basic lingerie construction and elastic applications to create your choice of a sexy nightgown, robe, tap pants, camisoles, bustier, panties or nightgowns. All garments are made in knits and you will be using the overlock (serger) for most construction. Stretch lace elastics, picot edge elastics, and lace appliques will be covered. Most sessions are project oriented with finished wearable garments in the end. 4 open lab hours are included in the class. Once enrolled, we will provide you with the supply list for the class.
Sewing 401 Tailoring
8 sessions, 2 hours each, 16 hours total $ 265.00
Learn to make a jacket incorporating fusable interfacing and contemporary (and some traditional) tailoring techniques. Single, double welt, and lined patch pockets, notched or shawl collars, and linings are covered. You will leave class with a finished project. 5 open lab hours are included in this class. Be the only one on the dance floor with your own custom style formal dress. Choose your own pattern and our instructors will provide instruction in cutting, sewing, fitting, and finishing your formal dress. This class is project oriented and you will leave class with a finished and wearable garment. 4 open lab hours are included in the class. #500 Beginning Fashion Illustration

In the world of fashion, concepts need to be conveyed through drawings and illustrations. Express fashion designs and ideas through artistic renderings of the fashion figure, showing apparel on the body and in “flat” form for technical purposes. Supplies: 11x14 drawing paper, pencils, eraser, Prisma pencils in a variety of colors, markers (colors) any that are available are fine, but if able to purchase new, suggested are Prisma, Chartpak, Copic. No prerequsite.

Spooky costumes galore come from this class. Consult with the instructor before class begins, shop for patterns and fabrics and come sew costumes for yourself and loved ones. Make them funny, sexy, or scary! Instructor is a costume designer with a variety of experience making kids and adult costumes. This class is project oriented and you will leave class with a completed 1 – 2 piece costume. 3 open lab hours are included in this class. We are now offering monthly memberships and they will work like this
1. Priority use of equipment is given to class members first.
2. Shop availability is closed during kid’s classes
3. Schedule in advance the time you wish to come so that we can advise you of classes in session, space availability, and to make sure a staff member is available to open the shop.
4. Teachers may not be available to answer questions or assist you if you need help; this is independent sewing.
5. Unused hours may not be carried over to the next month.

We can also create classes for your girls to earn their sewing badges. Classes can also include dyeing fabric before sewing their masterpiece.

2”x 18” clear C-thru gridded ruler, 60” measuring tape, fabric shears, pins, pin cushion, fabric chalk, seam ripper, hand needles, thread, a yard or two of plain weave fabric (like muslin).
You can bring your own or use ours, (ours have no fancy stitches or computer chips). You will need bobbins, (bobbin case if not drop in), machine needles, screwdriver, and pressure feet for your machine.
