Instructor-Led and On Demand Online Classes

We currently offer a few instructor led and on demand online classes. Once purchased, you will receive the supply list and additional information regarding the class in which you have enrolled. We are currently utilizing Zoom but may change platforms if necessary. We can also schedule private classes though Zoom or another platform of your choosing.

For the on demand classes, you will receive a supply list and a link to access the class. You may view the lesson as often as needed and submit questions to us as they arise. Our recorded classes are offered on Vimeo.

#10I Kids Sewing - Once Weekly, 4 sessions a month, 1 hour each (ages 8-12)
Introduce your child to the creative art of sewing. Your child will learn to sew by hand and on the machine and be creating accessories and simple clothes before you know it! Students work on specially developed projects to increase their sewing skills. Student is responsible for fabric, thread, notions, and some patterns for projects. Some patterns are included in the class.

#119I Preparing for Fashion School - 4 sessions 3 hours each, 12 hours total         
Get a preview of some of the techniques you will be learning when you enroll in a university fashion program. Practice makes perfect and this class will take the pressure off and help you get the best grade possible!  

Supplies: Professional quality muslin, notebook, paper, thread, paper scissors and basic sewing tools. No prerequisite.

Adult Sewing
Sewing 1I Intro to the Sewing Machine 1 session, about 1 1/2 hour $30.00
Do you have a sewing machine and have no idea how to use it? Thinking about learning to sew? This class will cover so much in one hour or so about the sewing machine. (We can even teach you some history also!) We’ll wind the bobbin and install it, thread the machine, adjust stitch length and width, backstitch, use some of the different stitches on the machine, review the feet and other items that come with the machine, and review tension.
 
Supplies required: your machine and treadle, scraps of fabric and a fat quarter of tightly woven cotton, ¼” wide elastic, or 1” wide elastic and some poly-fil fluff, and a spool of thread. Once we have gotten to know our machine, we will sew a mask or pin cushion.

Sewing 101I - 5 sessions, 3 hours 15 hours total, - $ 150.00
This class is designed for the beginning stitcher and will get you started sewing your own garments and accessories. You will also discover the joy of the creative journey. Cutting on grain, importance of pressing, and following a sewing sequence are covered in depth. Each session is project oriented and each student will leave class with finished wearable projects. Once enrolled, we will provide you with the supply list for each session.

Sewing 170I Basic Sewing Techniques - 2 hours per session - $ 30.00
Learn a variety of sewing techniques that will transfer to your projects. You will create a reference file with notes of how and when to apply them. This class is not project based; it is techniques oriented. You will create a notebook of techniques to use for future reference.

This is a great way to learn a plethora of information quickly and easily and will serve you well in the future. We suggest you take this in conjunction with Sewing 101. You may never need another sewing class again until you want to sew knits. Supplies: binder for samples, basic sewing kit. (Fabric samples supplied by TLSR). No prerequisite.

#750I Beginning Pattern Making

Basic pattern making starts with a fitted block. Our studio classes start with creating a fitted block (the hardest thing to do in our opinion). This class utilizes a pre-made block, either yours or ours, and uses it to create new styles of patterns. Many of these techniques are applicable to menswear and kids! Classes are as follows:

Session 1: Bodice dart rotations using 2 different techniques
Session 2: Bodice dart alternatives (3 alternatives)
Session 3: Bodice dart eliminations (2 styles)
Session 4: Button extensions, facings (2 types), and interfacings
Session 5: Collars and neckline alterations (3 collar drafts)
Session 6: Sleeves (3 sleeve variations)
Session 7: Skirts (3 skirt variations)
Session 8: Yokes on bodices and skirts (2 variations)

$ 25.00 a session, each session is approximately 2 hours.
Purchase all 8 sessions before starting the class and receive a 20% discount of full purchase price.
