Learn how to hand hem, apply/reapply closures, and repair broken seams – the basics everyone should know. This class is great for boys and men who might resist learning to sew.

Repair your clothes to make them last longer; you bring your clothes for repair. Try out some sashiko techniques (visible mending in an artful way). Clothing items must be clean.

Have a few garments that don’t fit as you would like? Bring them in and we will help you fit them and advise on the alterations. Clothing items must be clean.

Bring sample fabric, thread, and needle. Contemporary and traditional smocking; we can show you how to use the smocking machine for English smocking if you want.

Learn several different ways to make single and double pockets.

You bring 1/2 yd each of outer and lining fabric. Brim interlinings supplied.

Base provided, you supply the fabrics and trims.

Bring a small (4-7”) hoop, light colored fabric, and some embroidery floss.

Create a bag for a special event.

A dress that can be worn in many different ways. This dress is made in knit. Makes a great bridesmaid dress! You supply the pattern and fabric.

 

Learn to embellish your projects with fabric manipulations and applications of trims.

Create a special gift for him for Valentine's Day. You bring the fabric, we have the pattern (traditional).

We use pre-reduced indigo and we will learn Shibori techniques. 1 scarf included, you supply other fabrics – no large items please.

Learn the ancient art of resist dyeing with wax.

One of the biggest fashion trends is the bralette. They are so easy to make, join us and learn how! You can learn to make one of 3 styles. Class fee includes the pattern of your choice and enough lace, elastic and strap to complete one white bralette. You choose the style to make in class and we will review how to choose other laces for enhancing your bralette wardrobe. This workshop is usually offered around Valentine’s Day and by request.

Get ready to work your butt off (and cover it with some gorgeous custom made panties)! Using your measurements, you will draft a basic brief style panty block, sew it up, and check the fit. You will also learn how to change your panty block to different styles and different stretch fabrics and stretch laces, how to determine the stretch ratios of knits, working with knits on your regular sewing machine, and the array of elastics used in panty design. This workshop is usually offered around Valentine’s Day and by request.

This corset making workshop class offers intermediate sewers and budding designers the opportunity to begin their journey in creating a custom corset. In this class you will learn how to fit a corset mock-up and build a corset using the double layer construction technique. This includes inserting a busk (optional), measuring for and choosing bones, marking and setting grommets. The class starts with cutting your pre-ordered pattern, making a mock-up and fitting it with the teachers guidance, transferring the changes to the original pattern (so you can make your next corset without a fitting partner) and putting the corset together. Professional inner construction supplies are included, you provide the busk (optional), fashion fabric and lining. For intermediate to advanced sewers. This workshop is usually offered around Valentine’s Day, Halloween and by request.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Reducing our carbon footprint to save our environment is a global concern. Reusing and recycling also saves us money. Join us for our workshop to make reusable household items and items used for cleaning and storage, then give them as gifts or keep them for yourself! We supply some of the materials; you supply some. This workshop is usually offered at the holidays and by request.

Take time out from the hectic holidays and create your own holiday treat. Learn to work with faux fur and create a fur capelet for the upcoming celebrations in this special workshop. Cutting fur can be messy but there is a trick to reducing the bits getting everywhere. Sewing it can be tricky too. Get the essentials of faux fur construction and create your own capelet. (You could also lengthen it for a full cape or shorten it to be a collar.) Workshop fee includes the pattern for the capelet. 

Create your own personalized stockings for friends and family. You bring the fabric, we have a traditional and non-traditional stocking patterns and even one for your furry friends. Pipe it, embroidery it with their name, bring your ideas!

 

Have kids around and need to shop for the holidays? Leave your kids with us and go run your holiday errands without the “I’m hungry” or “I want that” in your ear. We will provide the sewing activities and supplies to keep them busy. We will have hand sewing projects for first time sewers and machine sewing projects for those that have experience working on a machine. Projects are gift oriented.
